YTK Tutor online training provides concrete tips and exercises to help you solve the most common challenges faced by thesis writers, from motivation to topic selection and writing. With YTK Tutor and practical advice from experts of writing and psychology, we want to support students in completing their thesis and thus finishing their studies.

YTK Tutor online training is free for student members

YTK Tutor helps you to work out the kinks with your thesis and get it done. The online training is part of the student membership, so students can get the full content for only 1 € per month – in addition to all other member benefits!

YTK Tutor includes practical instructions and exercises, such as:

help to improve motivation, performance and time management
support for general thesis challenges and jitters, thesis anxiety and adequate recovery.
tips on choosing a topic, scientific writing and asking for feedback

In addition, participants in the training will receive a discount on the book Opinnäyte jumissa (Ahonen 2023).

Member benefit developed for student needs

We interviewed students to better understand their learning journey and challenges, so that we could offer the right kind of help. One challenge in studying stood out clearly: the thesis – in terms of subject choice, motivation and timing. Many also felt that universities do not provide enough support for their thesis.

So, at the request of our student members, we developed the new YTK Tutor online training together with writing and psychology experts and with feedback from students. The YTK Tutor is therefore made to meet the needs and wishes of thesis writers to complete their final projects more easily.

YTK Tutor experts

**Simo Ahonen** is a Master of Psychology, neuropsychiatric coach and educational psychologist at the University of Tampere. He has also worked as an educational psychologist at Lahti University of Applied Sciences (now LAB University of Applied Sciences) and is the author of the book Opinnäyte jumissa (2023). Simo did not read any books for three years after returning his thesis. He still has not read the final version of his thesis.

**Kimmo Svinhufvud** is a Doctor of Philosophy, associate professor and work coach (STOry). He works as a Lecturer in Finnish at the University of Helsinki Language Centre. Kimmo is the author of several popular books on writing and thesis supervision (e.g. Gradutakuu, Riittävän hyvää kirjoittamista, Kupliva kirjoittaminen). He also has a proven track record of writing his own thesis.
