The amount of the allowance is equal to your average monthly salary. It may be lower if you have had unpaid absences such as lay-offs during the 12-month reference period. You should apply for the allowance from the unemployment fund or Kela within three months of the end of your employment. For application instructions and other details, see the YTK Unemployment Fund website.
