According to the law, annual holiday is earned normally for a maximum of 160 weekdays, or around six months, during maternity, paternity, pregnancy and parental leave.
If the due date of birth is before 4 September 2022, the old maternity leave (105 working days) applies, after which the employee may still have 51 working days of parental leave for which annual holiday accrues normally.
Parental leave (former paternity leave)
In the family leave reform 2022, paternity leave as such was abolished and replaced by a new parental leave (160 weekdays), during which annual holiday is accrued normally for the parent who does not receive pregnancy allowance.
If the due date of birth is before 4 September 2022, the old paternity leave and the same 160 weekday rule apply. In other words, after the full paternity leave (54 weekdays), the father can be on parental leave for up to 102 weekdays while annual holiday accrues normally.
The rule of 160 weekdays is personal, and each parent receives their own period of 160 weekdays. When calculating weekdays, non-holiday Saturdays are included and the 160 weekday rule is calculated per child and not according to the year in which the holiday is accrued. If the 160 weekdays are exceeded, annual holiday will no longer accrue for the exceeded period.
